The BOQ Maroochydore Celebrity Charity Golf Day & Corporate Sports Luncheon 2017!

Well, that's a wrap! The 2017 event was a hit and the rain even cleared for us amid a week of storms to provide the perfect sunny back drop for our highly anticipated golf day and sports luncheon.

The official report:

The 2017 BOQ Maroochydore Celebrity Charity Golf Day & Corporate Sports Luncheon, held on Friday 1st December 2017 with the theme ‘in the spotlight’ helped to raise money for Hear and Say who support deaf children and their families in our community.

An entertaining round of golf at Pelican Waters Golf Club saw the business community of the Sunshine Coast team up with a range of sports celebrities completing fun fundraising activities on the golf holes while competing for the top golfing prizes.

Guests then headed to The Sebel Pelican Waters for the corporate sports luncheon where celebrities entertained the crowd with a hilarious on-stage competition of pop- culture Q&A, charades and dress-ups. Wally Lewis shared insights into his career and the world of professional rugby league. The room was also wow’d by the incredible strength and spectacular of olympic gymnast Brennon Dowrick who performed a number of jaw-dropping gymnastic moves on the pommel horse... including 10 handstand pushups!

With incredible prizes featured in the live and silent auctions as well as the raffles, many prizes kindly donated by the Sunshine Coast Community, the event aimed to raise significant funds to support Hear and Say with their life changing work for deaf children and their families in our region.

This popular event has developed the enviable reputation of being one of the most talked about golf days on the Sunshine Coast. Year after year this event is known for delivering an A-list sporting star line up, an entertainment spectacular and attracting the business market of the Sunshine Coast.

Hosted by Robert 'Dipper' Di Pierdomenico (AFL Legend) and local Caroline Hutchinson (92.7MixFM Morning Show), this event never disappoints, ensuring sponsors and attendees get up close and personal with their sporting heroes.

Most importantly the culmination of this event is an outstanding amount fundraised for a local child-related charity. Over the past five years this event has raised more than $300,000 for local charities and this year the very worthy recipient was the Hear & Say Centre.

Hear and Say is a leader in the provision of paediatric hearing technology (including cochlear implants) and listening and spoken language so that children can hear and be heard. More than 10,000 children, young adults and families benefit from their programs and services each year.
